Fear has been a big struggle for me ever since I fell and broke a bone shortly after I got this bike. I've been riding for 6 months now, but I've only had 8 or 10 sessions in those months. I hope to keep practicing, get better at it and in a few months share a better bunny hop clip here.
It's crazy how it looks like I'm not putting any effort on this hop, when in reality I was giving it everything that I could…

Ok so I recommend trying to get as much possible height and looping out. Dont level out yet. When you can consistently lever the bike high up then learn to tuck and level the bike.
good job, now kick a whip.
First: Strengthen your hamstrings.
While riding at a good learning speed, compress your legs like you’re getting ready to jump. Then, pull your bars to your waist quickly while exploding upwards (simultaneously). Once your bars come close to, or hit your waist area, contract your hamstrings (like a leg curl).
Take your time building your confidence back, there is no rush in BMX
One thing that cycling teaches in general is that you can dig way deeper than you think.
Pedaling so hard you see spots and think you’re gonna pass out? Nah, you’ve got at least 20% left in the tank.
Think you’re putting your all into a bunnyhop? Nah, think about it: if you were being chased by a zombie Rottweiler and a Nazi on crack- you’d have a little more “oomph” behind your movements, wouldn’t you?
*That’s* what cycling takes. Throw your whole bodyweight into it like there’s no tomorrow and you don’t care if you rip every muscle in the process- then you’ll really start seeing results 💪
You have a lot left in the tank.
Bend your knees and compress your body to preload, and practice controlling your body weight shifting onto the back tire into almost a manual. Then start straighting your legs and send that weight up. Think of a ” J ” shaped movement with your hips. Hence “J hop”.
I totally understand the fear, broke my arm in august, and now I have titanium in my left arm. Try getting that front wheel higher then level the bike out to get higher. I myself am practicing as well
