Hey whats up? Is it possible to use a 9speed 2x road shifter with a r7000 or r71000 front derailleur? i am currently running 11 speed drivetrain with 11 speed chain, casette, r7000 rear derailleur and r7000 right shifter but im using a shimano 600 front derailleur and a sensah 9 speed 2x left shifter, got it to work okay but was wondering if i could keep the shifter and just change the front derailleur to get a little better shifting at the front.
context: my right sensah shifter broke after 2 years of hard use and decided to upgrade to 11 speed and getting parts where i live is not the easiest so thats how i ended up on this kind of weird setup

  1. Yes you can. You just need to adjust to high and low limit screw on the front derailleur

    The short answer is: Yes.
The long answer is: Yes, and daaamnnn look at this stem. I did the same thing when I found the perfect frame that is 1 size large than I am. It’s a mixed experience with the excitement of riding on the beast and the fear of the stem piercing through my chest. Still enjoying every ride.

No, the 11- and 12-speed Shimano Road front derailleurs need much more cable pulled than older FDs did. A 9-speed Shimano brifter would absolutely not pull enough cable, and it given that Sensah claims their 9-speed stuff is cross-compatible with Shimano 9-speed, I doubt the Sensah brifter will pull enough cable either.

You can use a Sora R3000 or Claris R2000 left-side lever. Those will work with 105 R7000 front derailleur.
