Bought my first bike in june, second hand, it’s a cyclocross bike with race tires mount (I have both tires and switch depending on the kind of route I planned for the day). I never had a non-commuting bike before so I am completely new to the sport but love it already. I know she’s a bit of an oldie (I think the model was released first in 2014), but except for some scratches everything looks totally fine! But I keep hearing from people that carbon doesn’t age well and now everytime I am on a descent I can’t help myself picturing the bike snapping in 2 and horrendously die in a pit 🫠🫠🫠

In my opinion, if there are no issues, it should generally be fine. However, carbon frames are usually recommended for replacement every 5-6 years since the carbon layers can gradually loosen over time with regular riding. If the frame is well-maintained, you likely won’t run into major problems, but for safety reasons, it’s a good idea to consider replacing it every few years.
That said, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! Do let me know if I’m mistaken or if there’s anything I might have overlooked.
