I recently started my first bike build. Everything is going just fine except for my fork. When assembled (uncut fork so not fully tightened up), there is some movement in my fork. I suspect it is because of the bearings.
Would it be fixed by cutting the fork and tightening everything up or is that something I can/should fix?

Is that a new steerer tube bearing? It looks like its either worn or the wrong size!

Some steerer tubes are tapered, so theyre 1 1/8 on top and 1 1/4 at the bottom which requires a different bearing

The headset bearing will have some play until you can tighten up the adjustment. If you’ve got an uncut steerer you could put on a huge stack of spacers, bung, topcap and tighten it up as normal. Don’t ride it loose

If you are unsure of what you are doing take it to a shop and work with a tech to correct the issue. If you don’t assemble the bearings, race etc on the fork properly you will do irreversible damage. Replacing a carbon fork on a bike is not cheap… not to mention if you break while riding you could do irreversible damage to your dome!

Just contact Standert and ask them if you are missing the fork crown race or if the specs of the fork are off. It sould be down to one of the two reasons.

Just built up my Standert Pfadfinder.

You’re missing the crown race. It may slide on without tools (mine did).
