This is my around town bopper. Pretty wide flat bars in photo 1, klunkers in photo 2. Have a Sierra with Bullmoose, and a Rockhopper with risers/basket for lugging groceries. So this one can kinda be anything. I dig the flat bar, but I’ve had these klunker bars lying around for a while. Thoughts?

Handlebars.
Around town I’d do the tall ones. Sight more useful than aero in in that context.
Definitely klunker, flat bars are un-ergonomic
Depends how it fits you and your use case. Generally I like swept back bars for cruising and flat bars for getting rowdy.
Is your saddle height set?
I’d prefer the swept back bars, but I would increase the saddle height to be more level with the bars.
The most comFy Ones for you are the best!!
This is Xbiking so I have to assume everyone is going to vote for the klunkers (including me lol)
Klunker or townie bars all day!!!
If the flat bars are less than 23″ I’d be tempted to put them on and go hit a blue trail just to remind myself what it was like for me back in 1993.
But then I’d put those other bars on for sensible riding round 🙂
Just keep your cables long enough to be able to switch between both. Each might have their proper use case.
Both? Depends on the bike.
I let some friend of the family borrow the bike with the same “clunker“ bar, and he kept asking me why are the bars so “goofy”? Kids these days.
Swept back, like on 1910s bikes.

I really like the Velo Orange Porteur bars on the right bike.

The klunks look stunning, especially with that stem. I do like both though.
I always go back to risers and town bars
Klunkers with stag beetle bar ends inboard of the shifters, aka naerobars
If you need the saddle that low that’s going to be a looong reach without good sweep on the bars, so option 2
Klunkers
Easton EC90 flat cut narrow.
Klunkers are just so much more ergonomic. Plus in addition to not giving you a neck ache and sore wrists, they look cooler.
Consider motobars too or something with less sweep.
Klunk it up and ride comfy
FLAT BARS
I’d get 2 identical bikes, and use one of the bars on each 🙂
