Hello, long story short: im 170/172cm height, riding 2019 scott genius in size S, and want a change so ordered new bike.
Wanted something with UDH and both 27.5 wheels, there is not so much to choose from.
So i decided to go for Propaim tyee 6. Check geo and want go a little bigger than my actuall Bike, but nothing crazy, as im pretty comfortable on my bike now.
I was riding recent canyon spectral size medium 460 reach and feel very stretched, so decide to go with tyee 6 size S.
I created table to see differences in sizing/geo to my actual bike, and was pretty sure that will be more stable, yet still NOT too big as Medium (was 455 reach which on paper looks like is almost two sizes bigger than my actuall trail bike)
Im mostly now afraid of TT lenght, which is measure i never was worried about…
Anyone was in that boat, downsize bike, wasnt sure about it and finally was happy? Just need help with afterorder-anxiety…
table with differences which i made to convince myself thats good option:

Cheers.

Size S (dwarf size)?? You seem to like hit handlebars with your knees. Even my wife with 165 cm has M
When I got a new bike, I was in the same boat as you… going from 460mm reach to 515mm seemed crazy and I was worried the bike would be very cumbersome to handle.
But I felt right at home on the bike, because the effective toptube length was the same and it was really easy to adjust to the longer front end.
The longer wheelbase improved my cornering and stability. With the new bike I have way more room to move, which feels really nice!
I’d recommend going for a size that is similar in ETT and worry less about reach.
