Thanks, for a great video. As a Dane, things that are very important to me.
1. Fresh new potatoes and strawberries – Danish off course. Preferably bought a roadside farmerβs stall.
2. The color of spring in the forest – the new leaves of beech. Itβs a green like nowhere else.
3. The looong sommer days. Thereβs magic in those days.
4. Danish Sommer vegetables also bought at a farmers market or roadside stalls.
Bonus. The seasons, spring and fall, are my favorites. Winter is not really the same anymore (to little frost and snow).
I think you are a bit hard on the wrather here in denmark π

Just to mention: "Julestjerner" is also a plant which is treated with light to have its flowering (very small, but with red leaves around) by Christmas Time. It is an Industry in Denmark, growing those! Finn. Denmark
And as real Danes my wife and I (both 77) are Blessed with a small garden in front of our apartment, against the west, and I have our chairs ready for the first signs of Sun and a little warmer weather. I have made my numerous garden-tools ready to be used and our Special (Danish-made) Australian Grill is ready for use and tasty steaks!! Finn. Denmark
You make very good videos. Denmark is a safe place. An american cane trust a dane. But can a dane trust an american after Trumps election?
Things that made your time unforgetable in Denmark? That's excatly how I feel about London! I have already been there three times this year, and I live in Denmark.
When I lived alone in a small rented room, I once made 200 julestjerner and hung them from the ceiling in different length sewing thread.
Took me a month to do it but it made a rather impressive 3D starry "sky".
The welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert once joked in QI that in Denmark it's cold and dark with only one hour of daylight. The only issue with that joke is that the danish mainland Jutland is located at the same range of lattitudes as from Newcasle Upon Tyne to Inverness. So Norhern England and Scotland are cold and dark with only one hour of daylight!!! You're living in London, which is same lattitude as Dortmund in Germany. That's quite far south from Denmark with a very different climate.
It's time for the rest of the democratic world to show Trump and other dumb dumb Americans that America is not the world, but a part of the world like all other countries are….
BOYCOTT ELON MUSK AND TRUMP…
STOP BUYING PRODUCTS/GOODS MADE IN AMERICA…
Thanks again for a fantastic video, El! Always interesting to hear what other people think of your own country ;-))) As always from me, a few little comments (as you expect by now!)
Ad 1: Njaaa.. Peder KrΓΈyer… technically that is correct; or actually Peder Severin KrΓΈyer is his full name. In Denmark, we ALWAYS (and also the cultural elite, art professors etc) refer to him as "PS KrΓΈyer" , spelling out the P and S. If you ask someone about "Peder KrΓΈyer" they would be at a loss… just is that way.
Ad 2: Yeah… well, sometimes things get pinched that is true. And we do have some problems with drugs, but that has a tendency to stay in those specific "circles". Quite an eye opener for me to spend Β΄two months in Johannesburg, as I did many years ago. Never go out after dark… PERIOD! Wear shoddy clothes going to the stores… only bring cash directly in your pocket, no wallet! Use the cheap bag from the supermarket, NEVER a backpack… ! In Denmark, you can leave your bag outside Netto until someone will pick it up and give to the people inside!
Ad 3: Well, we have dead zones on the phone signal… but not in Copenhagen! Test out some of the hilly areas on Fyn or in E. Jutland… trust me, there are blind/dark spots there… ! Getting fewer, but still there!
Ad 4: Also, cars are EXPENSIVE!!! So bikes are easy, healthy and quick!
Ad 5: Even if I hate making them, they are special! And they keep well! My parents' christmas tree has stars made by me and my sister when were were quite young!
Ad 7: Especially this last winter was HORRIBLY grey, even for Danish climate.. so you are absolutely right!!
Stay safe π
I loved the summer of 2024 it was a lovely day π
