Hi guys,

Looking for some advice as a newbie wanting to start a new hobby into MTB.

I've haven't rode a bike since I was just a kid so I don't know much about them.

I would be using this bike for general exercising, local commuting and for easy trail riding on the weekends. (Maybe some harder ones once I have get better at riding)

These are the two bikes that I have in mind which are less than $1K AUD.

Which one would be the better buy for my usage? Also open to other suggestions within the same price range.

Any help would be much appreciated. 😊

You could get a Marlin 5, or you could put that money towards a second hand roscoe. The roscoe is a much better bike than the marlin. I work at a trek store and the sentiment between all of the employees is that the marlin is an overpriced not-very-good bike, whereas even the $15,000 full suspension guys respect the shit out of the Roscoe
