A bit of a dumb question, but what’s the difference between straight (looking vertically) and angled Rear MTB Brake mounts?

1st picture is IS mount, 2nd picture is post mount.
They look different and hold onto the frame in different ways. In my opinion IS mount is superior since there is no need for threads that can get stripped. Not as common on newer bikes however.
