Not even Kool-Stop Salmons could give me confidence on the big descents, so took it pretty slow today. Been home for 30 and think I’m finally starting to regain feeling in my toes!
Ibis frame with the Hunter fork is a very cool build

You do know disc brakes weren’t always a thing?

Lovely bike, nice scenery. Since you’re mentioning rim brakes: you could improve the performance of your front brake a lot by setting the straddle cable carrier much higher. These are wide profile cantis. Set up like this you might have high initial force but are lacking a lot in peak power and modulation.

Yeah, I’m actually about to swap back to a Paul Funky Monkey cable hanger, and will absolutely be setting the cable straddle higher.

Glad you and the bike survived. Looks killer!

Funny reading this cause up to about two years ago my main cross/gravel bike was an IndyFab with Paul Minimotos. One wet day I was cruising down a gravel path when a little kid suddenly ran out of the bushes and right in front of me. Now, I’ve been riding cantis in the wet for decades and know you need to plan to stop or slow down a lot more than you do on your big 29er with hyrdo disc brakes. Panic stops? Not so great. I barely missed that kid. And I knew I’d never forgive myself if I had hit her. I ordered a custom gravel bike with discs the next day. The old cross bikes and vintage mtbs are now relegated to slow sunny riding. Rad Ibis btw. I still have the British Racing Green Mojo I bought new in 1995.
