MORE: All photos were taken before I replaced all the parts. Don’t worry no more rusty chain, lol.

Here is one of the few websites I could find about the bike: [https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Scott-Sportster-Comfort-20-2014-Hybrid-Sports-Bike_67008.htm](https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Scott-Sportster-Comfort-20-2014-Hybrid-Sports-Bike_67008.htm)

Before I removed the wheels off the frame, the rear one especially was so tight I had to use a steel rod as an extender on the clamp for more leverage.

He states that everything is stock and he had never done anything with it since buying it NEW years ago. He doesn’t know when he bought it, he just knows that it’s old.

In terms of storage, he had this stored outside but it never was exposed to extreme weather. I don’t believe he had any kind of cover on it or anything but he did have a small roof over it.

maybe the bike uses boost wheels, that are wheel hubs that are wider than normal. I don’t know, I’m just a beginner but try exploring that option

Find a nutted rear wheel. On older bikes before quick releases, there were a lot of these.

Probably a mtb rr hub spacing (143mm) on the frame and the new rr wheel uses standard/road spacing (135mm).

Stock wheels may have been beefier, wider. Steel frames can be be manipulated to a degree.

I’m thinking of two possibilities. One is wheel is not original to frame and comes with smaller spacing. Two (more likely) is bike was dropped and one of the chain stays is bend out.

I tried finding more info on Scott Sportster and all models I found have much higher grade components than what your pictures show. I’m beginning to think someone fitted ordinary components on nice Scott frame including wheel that doesn’t have original spacing made for this frame.

Scott is not department store brand-they are pretty pricy beasts and that Shimano Altus and cranks really don’t quite fit Scott.

Do some measuring. Hubs come in different widths.
    I bet you have a 135mm frame and a 130mm wheel.
