Hello all and thank you for any advice in advance!
I am getting my girlfriend into mountain biking. We’ve been renting and she’s loving it. I found a 2015 GT force on fb marketplace for $800. Seems like a steal but I understand it’s dated.
I was thinking an older model of a better bike would be better than a new model of a worse bike.
We mainly do all mountain / cross country rather than downhill but a lot of these trails in CO require some more suspension.
Any guidance would be appreciated!

I would offer $400
It’s not a horrible bike but it will be heavy and slow climbing. Does it have routing for a dropper post?
A modern hardtail would suit her better. You can find something good for that price.
Unless your girlfriend is gonna be sending it really hard I wouldn’t worry about it. That bike will serve her well and you’re not going to do better for the price.
That’s a lot of bike but it may inspire confidence. I would just get a dropper and go 1x. And give her a true granny gear. Offer 650.
Microshift advent x is great range for not much. If you need to switch the derailleur I would consider it.
