A young driver “panicked” and tried to outrun police leading a dangerous high-speed pursuit, a court has heard. Ethan Grant raced through multiple sets of red lights and drove on the wrong side of the road before eventually losing control and flipping his car.

Swansea Crown Court heard the 21-year-old defendant’s parents had seen the dashcam footage of their son’s driving on the night in question and were “truly mortified” by what he had done. A judge told Grant he was “lucky to be alive”.

  1. Ethan didn't panic. He made a decision to run from the police to avoid the consequences of his actions, he chose to flee. At any time he could have pulled over and handed himself in, no he kept trying to flee. Ethan fortunately hit an empty parked car, Ethan caused thousands of pounds worth of damage, massive inconvenience to the owners of that car, hours worth of work for police officers and other emergency services and probably cost thousands of pounds more in legal fees. Ethan is a drain on society.
