  1. Going cheap on tires is more expensive than just getting the good stuff from the get go.

There are some with less tread if that’s what you’re looking for. Depends on what makes you feel safe or what makes you feel slow, personal preference.

  3. I can also recommend the WTB Riddlers. Depending on how long your rides are, the center knobbies may not be desirable

  4. Buys literal garbage and is shocked it’s garbage.

All those dumb cyclists paying $100 for tires right OP?

Seconded for used tires on eBay. Though you really have to search. If you wanna stick to Amazon, American classic tires are pretty solid, I rode them for a couple years. They’re not as cheap as they used to be relative to other brand name tires, but they’re still solidly affordable (I think like 40ish a tire). Also all of them are tubeless compatible. They have a semi slick that I quite liked.

If you need to buy online…go on backcountry or REI and find something with good reviews on discount. You can probably find something for under $50 a tire that will suit your needs that will be good quality. The community would suggest go to a bike shop and ask an expert for an opinion.

  7. Literally anything from a real brand

For your use case and on a budget I might try something like the WTB Byway, or I’ve seen a lot of the Specialized pathfinders on sale because there’s a new generation coming out. Can’t go wrong with Panaracer Gravelking either.

At 80/20 You’re basically looking for something with outer knobs but a nice flat centre tread. Now is a great time to shop deals at bike shops.
