  1. Your UK correspondent was correct – our thrift stores ('charity shops' as we know them) are usually much smaller in scale so don't tend to carry larger items like bikes. I'm sure there are some larger ones here, but they are few and far between.

I was surprised by your take on pawn shops – usually they are desperate to get rid of bulkier items so if you make an offer on their bikes you'd usually have some success.

  2. I have to disagree with you about pawn shops.
I have been buying bikes from pawn shops for years. I have a criteria that I use.
Depending on the condition, brand, size, price and or components.
I have found some great bikes ranging in price from as low as $37-70.
For example. I just found a 1999 trek 820(aluminum) 8 speed free hub for you guessed it $40 😊 It's a great bike

These vintage bikes are best suited as neo retro bike builds

  3. That's not true, I have bought plenty of good bikes at pawn shops,A Salsa mariachi, A Giant carbon fiber and also a Klein attitude comp all at very good prices. It doesn't hurt to look .

  4. i came across your channel yesterday and really like it a lot. I like looking for good deals on older bikes and parts too. My first what I now categorize as backyard reclamation projects was a first generation 2000's Trek 3500 that had been living in a backyard under the eave for at least 5 years. I got it for $25. Cleaned and greased the bearings, replaced all cables and housings, and then trued the wheels. The rear derailluer was a Tourney that had met the pavement hard a few times so I replaced it with a new Acera for $27 on Amazon. I put a set of 1.50" Continental Ride Tours on it and as my daughter said "Dad,that's the smoothest bicycle I have ever ridden in my life." I tend to fixate on Treks and Schwinns but starting to learn about some of the other decent brand bikes now. I think I will learn a lot watching your channel.

  5. Bro what the hell are these prices. I would buy half of this junkyard if I were there. For 100$ I can get a barely rolling beat up 26" market bike. If I lived in us i would be a millionare bro's living in infinite money glitch
