(TL;DR at end) Hey, I’m relatively new to mountain Biking but have progressed really fast. I have been riding a beginner hardtail since i started MTB in march and after thrashing it on black trails and over 25 foot gaps, it has finally given out and the forks have snapped. I have decided I am good enough for a dually, and that has lead me to this dilemma. I was set on buying a polygon t7 for $1900 AUD new, until I saw what seems to be a good deal, $800 AUD for a 2011 Giant Reign second hand. I am on the fence with this and I don’t know what to do, please let me know what would he a better choice. TL;DR, do I buy a new polygon siskiu t7 for $1900 aud or a second hand Giant reign 2011 for $800 aud ?

The 2011 likely has outdated geo and def has outdated standards. I would avoid it if you can swing the money on Polygon I would go that way.
My first serious dual suspension was a trance x1 from that era. MTB tech has come so far that I dont know how clmparable they are really. The thing with those old maestro bikes is they were rough on their bearings. I wouldnt be surprised if you needed to replace them all and do a big overhaul. They were great bikes though. If the new bike is too much money it might be worth lowballing an offer on the reign and using it like you stole it for a bit.

If you’re snapping your fork DON’T BUY USED, a 12 year old bike especially so.
The Polygon has a reputation for breaking, I recommend a better rig, Specialized or Trek are having inventory reduction sales.
Look around, Australia is way isolated so I understand availability is a factor but I’m sure there’s a bike for you
