Im jealous. But I’m also unreasonably afraid of early carbon aluminum bonding tech… so maybe keep an eye on those seat stays.

Awesome deal. Put some pedals on, lube it up and smash it! Bartape should always match the saddle IMO!

  3. That’s a hell of a bike for $100

But you need, uh *checks notes* pedals to go faster before the bar tape

Bar tape because putting g your hands on someone else’s dried sweat is gross.

When you do that undo the stem faceplate and give those bars a close inspection.

Other than that… ride it like you stole it, because at $100 you won this round.

  5. Wow! That’s a fantastic find! It doesn’t look like it needs anything.
    Maybe a tune up?

As for aesthetics (obviously this is subjective)…

If it were me, I would try to give it a more clean / streamline look by making some super simple changes. I’d swap the saddle for something more modern. Even a cheap modern saddle would be a big visual improvement.

I might look for a logo-less stem, stems are cheap and you will likely be changing the stem as you discover your fitting needs.

I’d remove some of the excessive stickers, like that “size small” sticker to declutter look of the frame a bit.

And this one might be controversial… but I would take a heat gun (carefully) to those rims and remove the rim decals.

And this one is going to be even more controversial, if it were my bike, I would give that fork a matte black paint job. With a bit of prep, painting a fork with pro results is pretty easy.

Those changes would really give this a bike a clean look without any real cost, and still celebrate its retro vibes. I think bikes of the past just liked having lots of words on them, and when you can dial some of that back, I think they look pretty rad.

But thats just me. Congrats on the find!

  6. Aside from bar tape and pedals, don’t rush to change anything.

You may find that you need new tires or a new chain. If you don’t have low enough gears, a new cassette may be in your future.

  8. The FSA Gossamer bottom bracket sucks. Replace it with a Shimano 105 or Ultegra when it starts clicking. It probably has already been replaced.

I have those wheels, I just retired them. I raced em two seasons and rode em for 10+ years. Heavy compared to modern stuff but they’re solid AF.

Get some pedals, tune it up and ride it.

Subjective, get some dura-ace components to complete that group set. Ultegra isn’t the best but good enough.

I’d put the fattest tires I can fit on there, though still road slick tires.
