Previously I was using an Izumi jet black chain. Sure it looked good and it felt a LITTLE bit stiffer but it was SO NOISY. Yeah maybe its because my drivetrain is already worn, and because the izumin is more stiff, it doesnt "gel" with the other parts well thus more noise

But problem is, my Z1 is too short. I thought I needed to buy a new chain then I remembered I can use 2 quick links to extend a chain ! So this is how my chain looks like now. Yes I know its at the absolute end of my dropouts but if I shorten it, the tyre rubs with the chain stays. Half link perhaps? Any ideas? Or maybe I'll just leave it as is

  1. i always keep my izumi chain pretty clean and lubricares, plus the rest of my drivetrain is already pretty smooth, so i never really thought about the noise.

i also agree about liking silent drivetrains, but never really got bothered by my izumi chain, so i might need to give other chains a try

    Is that an aluminum frame?

I don’t find izumi too noisy, but I know some do. I appreciate how different bikes in my collection resonate the sound differently depending on the BB type, crankset/chainring, and frame being used.

I don’t like the sound from carbon wheels when spinning up. That’s something I don’t believe I will come to ever love.

Dude, I had no clue until I put on a KMC. I’d never go back TBH. Also, I’ve waxed and run both, the KMC is so silent!

Izumi Kai on 3 bikes no noise whatsoever. Perhaps could have changed your cog first

  5. Think about it, if you side the wheel forward, how much more contact will the nut be making? Most of the nut that is hanging off the back of the dropout now would simply be over the open slot of the dropout if you slid the wheel forward.
