When I was a kid I rode my bmx bike to school and sometimes took a friend home on the handlebars or the pegs. I took it to stores, friends’ houses, fun rides, dirt jumps, even on dates! It didn’t have a basket or racks or any fancy custom mods, but it was the most xbiking xbike I’ve ever owned cuz i used it all the time and had the most fun on it!

These are lots of nice and fancy bikes and the kind that I’m into myself, no denying that
However, a low end aluminium hybrid from 2007 with a bent rear fender, a bell that barely rings and a rusty rat trap rack that gets someone from where they are to where they want to go, while enjoying the ride, while giving them the itch to tinker on it, well this too is an xbike.
Let’s avoid the narrative that we need fancy bikes with fancy gear and let’s be inclusive. Otherwise we’re not the alt scene, we’re just snob hipsters.

Nothing “defines” a non-existent bike. It’s whatever bike you’re riding during that moment. The sub is called xbiking because of what you’re doing with your bike, the lifestyle you’ve created with your bike, and the activities that make you unique because of your bike.
If you’re riding your homemade tallbike in a town parade, you’re xbiking. If you and your significant other have packed a picnic basket, and rode to the beach for the afternoon, you’re xbiking. If you’re doing the city’s annual bottomless ride with friends you’re xbiking.

Sooo… I’d boil it down to these two things then:
Cool frame, cool wheels and a frontloader. And a cool bar.
And for those of us who have a bike that is almost exactly like this but don’t get on with front baskets?
Posting pictures of other peoples’ bikes you found on the internet isn’t very xbiking imo
