I recently asked for recommendations for a suspension fork for my XS Surly Troll, 26" wheels, but got no replies. So I went into the garage and tried slapping an old 26" suntour coil spring fork onto the troll.

Everything seems to work, but considering the lack of info and/or difficulty finding anyone else that's done this to their Troll has been hard, which makes me wonder if I'm missing something?

The only other reddit post I found on this subject that had any info recommended only 2 viable suspension forks.

I assume maybe the geometry & handling will be a bit wonky, but I'm okay with that for now. I just don't want to dish out for a new MTB at the moment.

Please someone let me know what terrible mistake I've made, thanks!

Add a mountain specific tires for better off road traction and handling, otherwise it looks good as is. Has disc brakes ✅ has suspension fork ✅

I’m pretty sure the troll has correct geometry for a 100mm suspension fork. That’s why the rigid fork is so tall/has so much clearance
