The opening for the internal brake cable routing is so far at the bottom of the fork, essentially nearly at the same height as the top of the caliper, that it is physically impossible to bend the hose inside. With hydraulics it wasn’t a problem cause the hose is more on the inside of the caliper and therefore don’t has to bend that far.

I tried without the metal plug but it is even worse without. Best solution would be a way to bring down the caliper a few centimeter to allow for more bend in the hose, but I guess this isn’t possible without changing rotor size. I am so happy with these brakes so I don’t want to change them.

But maybe there are more elegant mounting solutions for the hose along the fork? That maybe prevent scratches on the paint also…

Thank you!

If you have the clearance you could try routing the cable on the inside of the fork leg and use white zipties so they don’t stand out as much. Clear protective tape like helicopter tape can prevent scratches.

I’d try going behind the steer tube and then straight up the backside of fork leg.

Have you tried to use the inner cable to force the housing to conform to the lower holes exit? The housing alone is very difficult to get out of some of these ports. If the housing can’t be placed in the caliper Itself then you could have the housing pass the caliper and use the noodle to make a U back up to the caliper.

  4. It sounds like the more elegant solution is to switch to hydro brakes, since that seems to be what the internal routing is designed for.

However, in this instance, I’d actually suggest a full wrap of the fork leg and cable together using white electrical tape. Put an extra strip or two underneath the cable to protect the fork if you want to, then start wrapping it.

Buy a tube of GoofOff or something similar to deal with the sticky residue when you inevitably need to change the tape for some reason.

  5. A bend that tight on a cable brake would make for really shitty brake feel. It’s possible to locate or bend your own metal fitting that would route into the fork, but that’s a lot of work for a pretty basic brake.

Stick on guides would go a long way to cleaning it up overall.

If you want to stick to the setup as is you could put it on the back side of the fork and use clear shrink tubing to fix it

  7. How DARE you say ty wraps aren’t elegant. They are the most elegant solution for a more civilized time.
