Hi,

First off apologies, this is an area I know next to nothing about.

I have a 2022 Kona Dew Plus (1×10 – RD-5120, CS-4100) which from looking at the specs, has a Shimano Square Taper Bottom Bracket, with Samox 36t cranks.

I'm spending most of my time in the small cog on the cassette, so wanted to increase the size of the chainring to up the gearing (if that's the right term).

I've only ever worked on bikes where you can just replace the chainring, but this (I think I'm right in saying) is direct mount, so I'll need to replace the whole crankset.

I'm in the UK, and I'm not sure where to start finding the right replacement. I'd like to go to 42t (from 36t) but am open to suggestions. I'd rather not throw too much cash at the bike.

Any recommendations on how best to sort this, and what I should be looking to buy would be great.

Thanks a lot for the help

If you have a bike Co-Op near, you could find a crank arm set where you can put whatever chainring you want on as log as the bolt pattern lines up. I did this way and it was under $20!
