Look on amazon for down tube protection and you’ll find mtb options that should work the same

If you’re a weight weeny just put some 3M helicopter tape. Basically clear thick tape for scratch protection which has always served me very well.
On the rate occasion I’ll scratch through the tape it’s super easy to just replace a piece.
Cheaper, lighter, and better looking IMO.

Sticky and big-lugged MTB tires tend to throw up some some rocks, and surfing through scree-adjacent might launch big rocks… but I dunno if a gravel front tire is really going to launch anything that helicopter tape won’t handle.

I thermoform my own for my MTB. Kydex works great, as used for custom molded holsters.

i used a chunk of inner tube and a zip tie on an old bike, it worked great.
i now have a prettier bike that i didn’t want to make ugly, so i’ve got a downtube protector from RideWrap on it.
