Murder of Couriers documents the lives of a group of bike messengers over a nearly three-year span. This film was made by couriers, about couriers, for a wide general audience and offers the chance to experience a lifestyle that not many get the privilege to enjoy. With the emerging popularity of urban fashion, extreme sports, green living and alternative lifestyles, people all over the world have begun to take to the streets on two wheels. At the heart of this general movement is a race of individuals who are indifferent to the cause. Indifferent only because they’ve always lived it. Now people around the world are beginning to look at bike messenger culture as a simple unifier of modern ideals. “A perfect marriage of work and play created by those who have learned to cut through the traffic of an uneventful life.” Murder of Couriers investigates this culture through the eyes of the people who live it daily.

  1. I was a bike messenger in DC for a few months in '86 and I was actually disappointed when a full-time position in my career field opened up for me, tho' taking that was the right thing to do. Still, being a messenger was a great thrill and I came to it with years of riding in big cities and racing and although I understood the wild and crazy persona adopted by some of my colleagues, I never felt the need to be anything other than who I was, just a guy able to ride a bike fast in the District. And after a couple of months, I was pleased to be invited into the social circle of the Black journeymen riders who were lean and mean and serious about earning a living on their bikes. And I did miss those guys when I had to bail, same with the dispatcher, who was always asking on the two-way radio, "Two-Five, where you at, Two-Five?" He was always looking to put another load on my back. 😀

  2. for everyone watching this and thinking, "i like to ride fast too!" PLEASE UNDERSTAND, normal cyclists riding fast and busting lights, creates a higher demand for traffic cops, and we are the ones getting the tickets during the week because of the image you created on the weekend.

please out of respect REMEMBER, i dont go into your place of work and pretend to do your job quickly.

  3. if people don't like messengers or couriers they should get off there lazy buts and fetch it themselves but we know they want because cars are to expencive to drive nowdays from what I hear I don't own one I am a full time bicycle cmmuter

  4. I was a bike courier during the pandemic but during that time we only had e bikes. It was cool running in and out of the little to now traffic but it was a high. Doesn’t compared to riding a fixed, break less.

  5. Aaaaannnd of course they're pretentious about it, I usually don't have a lot of patience with that kinda ego game. But it does seem like a really bitchin way to make a living.
Also… pretty sure that dude Jamie Hooper used to play in the band 3 Inches of Blood. Watch the video of "Deadly Sinners", pretty sure that's him. Badass if it is, I love that band
