Decided to go tubeless now after having three different flats on three straight rides. Two were little pinhole size punctures and the other was a sidewall blowout that left me stranded and gave my wheel gnarly road rash. Maybe it was bad luck or user error, but now I have a ptsd using GravelKings. Sidewall blow out was on an old GravelKing sk and then punctures on new ext’s (got them on sale at LBS, 2 for $50).
New setup is Specialized pathfinder pro’s 38mm, Fillmore valves, Stan’s rim tape, orange seal. Initial setup wasn’t bad, the pathfinders aired up no problem. No compressor needed, just used my regular floor pump.
I’m loving these pathfinders so far after the first couple rides. Smooth on the road and good traction off-road (hard pack, loose gravel, sand).

The pathfinders are great tires. Congrats on going tubeless. Game changer in comfort and reliability in my opinion. Don’t forget to add sealant every few months.
that SK looks crazy, I’ve worn out several pairs of 38c and never seen a slit like that. Plenty of glass cuts etc but never that. Were you by chance overinflated?
How stiff are the bead on the pathfinders?
