Why would you want to switch from a thru axle to a QR?

Those grooves are designed for that.

That fork is likely a 100mm hub spacing so it would only work with a QR. Seems you have two different things going on here with your question.

Would be fine on the front but there likely isnt enough clamping power for a rear qr. source: i have a ss with a qr and im awaiting a chain tensioner.

Yes its not a problem.
Is it recommended? Well depends on the reasoning.
It will make swapping wheels and other repairs slightly faster and easier.
It will also make the bike or wheel easier to steal.
How often does he ever actually take the wheel off, how often does he leave it unattended in public?
Is it worth the cost of a new wheel + making it more attractive to thieves to not have to spend 15 seconds with a 15mm spanner when he needs to take the wheel off?
I wouldn’t do it on a commuter bike that gets locked up in public daily. A 15mm wrench is cheap and easy to use.

Meta comment: the number of people confidently answering who are unfamiliar with bolted axles is really something.

So much endless speculation here.
Does the hub accept a QR skewer? Hint: it will have a tiny hole on either side. If yes, then you’re set. If not then, nooooo.

Should not matter. Probably 12×100
