I bought a BMC URS, or Unrestricted, AL2 in December. The picture is from the day I bought it. I’m just curious about its story. I was unfamiliar with the brand until I walked into an Eriks bike shop and saw it in person. I test rode and and absolutely fell in love with it. It’s the most comfortable bike I have ever personally owned. Also it’s the newest bike I’ve ever owned. That being said, I don’t see many posts about it or much online at all about the aluminum version. I’ve got about 200 miles on it now and I still feel the same. Aesthetically and functionality it’s a 10/10 to me. Anyway, does anyone else have one? How are you liking it? Just wanted to talk about it and recommend it! I picked it up for $1100

  1. My LBS seems to run BMC as their main gravelbike brand, I’ve been on a gravel groupride at the start of the year where they also had about a dozen rentals of the higher end models (based on color either 6 or 8k). Didn’t really hear people talk about how the bikes were but they worked fine for the ride (fairly easy aside from plenty of just pure ice or mud defending on where the sub had gotten at the time).

For me the interesting color ways start fairly high up the price range and ultimately the equivalent of my dream bike that I ended up getting custom built at the LBS would’ve been 3k more and without a suspension option (ik they do their own weird thing there but it looks like it has basically no travel), with a sick colorway but I got a custom anodized Ti frame for myself which is also very cool

I can’t speak for the lower end models because my entry point last year was already around the midrange section, but based on their pricing I think they’re just competing with some much more well known brands at the top end. If I’m blowing 12k on a bike I’d just rather get one of the really hot Specialized models for the same price

I’ve done quite a few gravel races on the carbon URS. Took a few podiums too. It’s a great bike – very compliant, if you like that type of ride. The reach is a little long for my build so I recently bought a new bike. I have nothing but good things to say about BMC URS though.

Too long wait, as my old Ridley snapped. Went for a in stock canyon. Would have liked a URS

Love mine. Upgrades parts on it over the last 2.5yr but the frame let’s do get as rowdy as ya want

  5. It’s a great bike, especially the carbon variant. The rear suspension really does work.

The only complaint I have is the BB86 bb, making it harder to reuse some old BB30/DUB cranks I have lying around.

I love my URS One. I just find the mounting points for mudguards ready stupid

I have the Carbon version/alloy wheels/GRX. I love it. I just added the Redshift/BMC stem, and got a set of carbon wheels for racing every once in a while.
I feel like I can go anywhere with it.
