Hi all,

I’ve just recently got back into riding and I’m looking for something to get some confidence back and hit some trails. I’m based in Sydney, Australia and have came across a second hand Trek Fuel EX 5 Gen 6 for $999 Australian. This price seems really good. It’s through a pawnbroker.

Would this be suitable for someone getting back into the sport? I’m a relative beginner and have recently lost a lot of weight so eager to get something to get back out there. My daily ride at the moment is a Trek Dual Sport 2 which I’m enjoying a lot but I want something a bit more trail oriented.

Appreciate any input!

It’d probably need a fork and shock service, brake fluid & pads, new chain if any of those haven’t been done somewhat recently. It’d be great if it was larger sized so that you could put modern bars and stem on it without the reach being super short. If it was large enough to where I could do that, I’d offer 800. If it runs a little small, I’d probably keep looking. A used hardtail around that price could get you modern standards and a better fork.
