I’m looking for a used gravel bike that I can begin my gravel and endurance journey with! Would this be a good choice / a good deal? I don’t know much about Scott bikes. Thanks!
Unlike later versions with full hydraulic disc brakes (Tiagra 4720), this is an older one with cable brakes (Tiagra 4700) so it’s not worth as much. I’d say $500 would be a fairer price for it so try to negotiate it down.
If you successfully bargain down the price and buy it, the first upgrade I would recommend would be to [swap out those really old Tiagra 4700 front and rear derailleurs and replace them with the latest 105 R7100 derailleurs.](https://v.redd.it/k9xoqycn1b8e1)
Shimano hasn’t updated those 4700 derailleurs in 11 years and they are getting really long in the tooth. The newer-technology toggle-type front and Shadow-type rear derailleurs like the 105 R7100 parts shifts better.

That’s a great value- the latest Tiagra groupset is phenomenal and I wouldn’t worry about the brakes being cables
