Hi, a friend of mine wants to get rid of an old bike. It’s basically taking dust in the garage because he has a few more recent bikes. Frame is Olmo (i guess 30 years old) but he says components are quite new (carbon rims, shimano 105).
I’d like to get into road cycling (currently I have a Trek xcaliber MTB from 2013 that I use mostly on the road with touring tires).
My doubt, should I get a new bike straight away? I’m afraid to spend time and money in mantaining this one, and then decide to get something better soon.
For example, pedals are missing and the handlebar tape needs to be replaced
50 euros is probably a good deal anyway, and I’m used to waste money on a lot of useless stuff. Should I get this?

This bike looks OK for 50 EUR if you want an aggressive, racing-type bike. But if you want to casually ride around or ride on gravel paths, you’ll want wider tires than this bike allows.
That is an excellent price.
Those wheels alone are worth like 200-300€ used. The frame seems to be Oria 7020 tubing which is very decent and should be worth 150-200 alone. So I’d say 50€ for the whole thing is you robbing your friend lol. If I were you I’d absolutely buy it for 50€, change the crankset for a modern Ultegra or something, new road tires, a better saddle, new handlebars and bar tape and you got yourself a decent road machine.
50 euros is good thing for anything. Go for it, it worth like 200€ and it looks good
For 50 euros it’s a good deal for sure, I think even just wheels worth way more than that. Just be sure the size fits you.
Get that bike, if it’s your size. 105, carbon rims, decent frame, what’s not to like?
Just check, before buying, that the seatpost is not seized. Because if it is, that’s a no go.
If this is you’re size bike and you want to buy this for starting cycling, it’s a good bike and investment. You only have to buy pedals and try it out. When it works fine, it’s fine.
When you find out that you enjoy cycling on the road, you can always upgrade to another bike.
€50 is a steal. I’d overbid and have a lot of fun with it.
If it fits, buy it! Clean it good, replace the bartape, oil up the parts that need oil, check the tires and have fun!
50 bucks is a great price for any road bike in decent shape. And although the frame is a bit dated and the crankset as well, it seems like a nice bike. If you like riding the bike, you can upgrade or get a newer one. If you don’t like it, sell it and you will easily get 50 bucks for it, probably more.
