‘87 MB-2

This is the non-John Deere edition. I picked it up for $10. The rear rim was cracked, freewheel seized, front axle snapped, chain was shot, headset cups cracked, bottom bracket was trash, a U-lock was locked to the rear rack, saddle = dead, chainrings worn (but they were oval and I’m not a fan), the fork was beat up, but the frame apart from a couple paint chips was in really good shape.

I originally was just gonna fix the headset and BB then sell the frame but I couldn’t let someone else have all the fun.

Found an almost new 90’s Titan MTB (which I wasn’t familiar with) and it had a good BB, headset, and a this-will-do-the-job crankset, 519 Weinmann wheels and new tires. Figured that was worth $50 so I bought it for the parts.

Swapped everything I needed to the Bridgestone. Repainted the donor fork and was able to get a pretty darn close match to the gold accents. Add a dash of parts bin bits and walla! Might upgrade the shifters and cranks at a later date and get a chrome stem too but as of now it rides great.

My first test ride turned into a search for my neighbors lost dog. I didn’t find the pup but I think I found my new favorite bike. Not as light as my ‘94 MB-4 but rides just as smooth.
