We didn’t have these in my country but judging from the geometry and chainset, this was a reasonable MTB around 1988/89. The lack of quick release on the rear wheel indicates it would have been the entry-level bike in a serious MTB range. Back then you’d have got people entering a mountain bike race on this quite happily.
