I look badass now but it sucks so bad i also ruined my new lulu leggings and cracked my garmin which i am devastated about and I just got a new bike LAST WEEK and that was the one i crashed.. which I’ve never done before. it was so preventable too. So pissed. Honestly that was what I cried about first until the adrenaline wore off, then I felt the rash.. and I can’t feel my elbow at all. And honestly it keeps getting worse. My hip bone has to be bruised, my knee is bruised on all sides (the other bruises on my knee came from last night I thought I saw a daddy long leg in my bed and I hopped out and hit the ground again:( but there were no spiders thankfully) Any advice?

Advice? Get back on the bike when you can and learn from what happened (assuming the crash was your fault).

Not to bum you out, but it’s going to hurt worse tomorrow. Get stuff from the store now before soreness and stiffness sets ib so you don’t have to run around and fetch anything tomorrow.

Bacitracin, arnica, etc. are your friends. Collagen will get your skin healing a tick quicker as well.

Sorry this happened, but it happens to all of us. You’ll know better next time and it doesn’t look like anything too serious happened. How did the bike fare?

Happened to me on my first ride with my new bike. It was a ride getting adjusted to a new one, and I found out what I couldn’t do on it real fast.

Nothing but time, protecting the wounds. A&D lotion will help with them. As far as the rest of the soreness, only time to alleviate that. Hope you heal up quickly!

  4. That 3rd pic doesn’t look good…looks really deep. You might need to see an MD. I took a bad spill on my brand new Specialized Roubaix Sport on its inaugural ride and had to see an MD and get cream and derm bandage to treat because the road rash was so deep/large. Good luck. Be careful that it doesn’t get infected. By the way, check your helmet because you may have to replace it if it took a hit. Again, good luck.

  5. damm, how did u crash? one day, I almost fell into a river (I stopped at the near edge of the ditch) cuz I was trying to remove my shirt while pedaling 😀 I remember it was the first year I started cycling

If you leave the gravel in the elbow wound, you will have a nice trophy of your survival. I have some in my elbow. We can be elbow gravel buddies.

  7. Heat and ice. That hip looks like it’s giong to be a deeeeeppp purple tomorrow.

I had a crash where I landed on mine and it hurt to sleep for about a month. Good luck! Hope you recover quickly.

  8. Good luck the next couple of days, you are going to be even more sore the next 2 days. Reading the comments you said you could have prevented it, don’t beat yourself up over it. Just learn from this, it’s how you get to be a better rider.

Make sure you clean and either put silicon or parafin coated dressings.

They accelerate and the wounds heal much better and with far less scarring.

Get well & back on the bike soon!

  10. Ouch. A good way to speed healing on road rash is to boil some salty water and then get some of that steam on your wounds. Do it a couple times a day.

  11. Is the bike ok?! 🙂

Stitching might be needed for 3rd pic. It’ll be sore and stiff tomorrow, more than today. Treat the wounds properly!

  12. Sorry to hear! Please get it looked at by a medical professional if it keeps hurting. Better safe than sorry…

  13. Didn’t know this type of post was a thing on here, anyone want to see a picture of my first saddle sore?

In all seriousness here’s to a speedy heal up, and getting back on the bike.

My first crash was a solo ride, out about 15 miles from home. Slid down the pavement on my side.

That was a fun ride home. I was convinced I’d broken my shoulder but only lost a bunch of skin.

I did feel like a bad ass bleeding all the way home.

Yowch. Get back on as soon as possible. Road rash is a badge of honor in this crowd.
Your elbow worries me. I crashed a dirtbike as a kid and earned about 100 stitches in that spot, it’s right over a nerve (the funny one) if it’s having sensory problems now you should probably get it checked out. I now have chronic tendinitis in my elbow leaving pinky to middle fingers num on bad days and if they get to cold it feels like I’m holding my hand in a fire.

I don’t mean to freak you out but please do get checked out if possible.

    Good riding

  16. How did it happen exactly? Dame i only ride casually but i contemplate falls and worry how much it would hurt lol!

  17. At least you broke in the new bike! Keep ’em clean and hop back on; you got this.
