  1. This is an aluminum stem coated with carbon. The process has a fancy marketable name; “Carbon Structural Integration (CSI)”. It’s meant to reduce weight and/or increase stiffness a bit while avoiding the hard task of making the core structure out of carbon weave.

    They’re easy and profitable to fake. Yours even has tiny air bubbles in the resin above the weave.
