Picking up this wheel set later today.
Could you suggest after looking at the wear indicators if it has any sufficient life left?
Also can I somehow check if wheels are true without them being put on a bike?

sufficient for what? Riding to the shops, yes, riding around the world, probably not. These are very obviously much-used wheels.
