I got this bicycle from a client of my mothers who was throwing some junk out and asked if I wanted it, otherwise it’d go to the trash. At first glance, it’s not your average bike I ride when I was a kid. I thought I could flip it cause the first thing I noticed was it definitely needed a new chain.
Also, in the last image I added, is that normal?

Yeah, clean it up, it’s a decent, well made bike. Not high end but everything works well together. Can’t see perfectly but chain might just need to be cleaned, and everything adjusted. That wire you note must be from a computer that used to be on the handlebar, you can remove it as well as any sensor it might still be attached to, it’s junk.
It’s a medium quality hybrid from around 1990. Looks alot like this bike (ignore the price, you won’t get that. ) The wire was probably just from an old bike computer, it probably leads down the fork to a sensor that would detect wheel speed.
