It’s not clear from this map whether you pass through Ohrid in North Macedonia or not. Looks like you’ll be close and it’s worth popping in if you’re in the area.

In Croatia, go inland by road 50 (Otočac-Gračać) or go island hopping. Avoid the coastal road E65 if you’re going there trough summer season. It’s packed, people drive way faster than the limit, shoulderless, narrow and the view is not worth it as everyone else will be admiring it instead of looking at the road while driving their campervans with shit sticking out on the sides.

I presume you’re aware, but be mindful where you’re camping especially in Bosnia. Unfortunately plenty of land mines still around, also some areas in Croatia and I think Montenegro too. Inland Bosnia is really pretty though.

Im also planning to do a trip to Istanbul this summer, from Spain.
I’m probably cutting through Serbia and going to Bulgaria instead though. I might take trains/buses parts of the way as well to cut off dangerous/boring parts.
This goes against the point of the post, but how did you choose your route in Bosnia, for example. I rely on google street view usually, but it’s not possible there.
If I were you, I would look into the Alpe-Adria route, it’s pretty popular and seems awesome.

If time permits National park Durmitor is a must see in Montenegro. Road from Plužine to Žabljak (or other way around) is probably one of the most scenic routes in the area.
