Welcome back to my Camino de Santiago cycling adventure! This winter, I set out on a project to document the entire Camino Portugués from start to finish section by section—not just for myself, but to help both walking pilgrims and cycling adventurers who want to experience this incredible route.

In this second episode, I take on the stretch from Santarém to Tomar, but things don’t go as planned…

After a big night out, I overslept on the train and woke up in Entroncamento instead of Santarém. What was supposed to be a smooth start turned into a scavenger hunt for Camino markers, asking locals at a farmers market (who gave some hilarious directions), and riding through some of the most remote and challenging terrain so far.

This section of the Camino completely changes—from city roads to steep red dirt trails, eucalyptus forests, and an absolute mud bath. And then… I had to jump over a giant puddle while carrying my bike—only to realize I forgot my camera on the other side.
