Hello there bikewrench!
After researching for quite a while… Couldn't find answers to the above question. So id thought I would ask some experts here to guide me before buying stuff. Would a 34t chainring fit on my frame?
Wolftooth components has a little chart on chainring diameters with tooth count. Clearance now with a 30t 6mm offset ring is 11.7mm, a 34t should fit with 3.5mm remaining. Would this be too little as clearance?
Current setup is a NX 11-50t cassette, SX cranks and chainring, deore deraileur and shifter, KMC X12 chain
Mainly doing this to keep wear on the 11t cog lower, and to go a little faster on paved roads. Most of my rides are on roads, with the remaining on gravel, would like to attempt some offroading, but there aren't many trails in Singapore.
I understand that I would need a longer chain and lose a gear of climbing ability, but other than that, anything else I should know before making the switch?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
(Yes I know my chain is filthy. I'll fix it… Soon…)
