Hey all, I've bought myself a cheap old bike and fixing up a few parts on it, I need to replace the derailleur but the ones I've looked at have a different mounting to what I got.
Is there an adapter I get to mount a direct mount derailleur? Or am I bed to go a different route?
Thanks all!

You gotta get a “claw” derailleur hanger
You need a “claw” derailleur. Some lower-tier derailleurs like Shimano Tourney come in claw varieties, or you can get an adapter. Just google “claw derailleur adapter”.
What I think works best is an adapter and a regular derailleur. Most of the old school claw style are not very high quality.
The serrated side of the nut should contact the frame dropout. Is that an axle nut? It almost looks like a locknut.
You need a claw hanger.

Tourney 6/7 with the “claw” hanger you need. Also looks like one of your axle lock nuts you’re using for the axle nut… Meaning the not you’re using looks like it should be on the inside of the frame not on the outside.

Adapter that will make a standard derailleur work as well.
