Help! I bought my bike from Evans Cycles nine months ago. I have ridden it for about 100 miles, and it has never crashed. Recently, it has made this noise every time I pedal hard. Any suggestions to fix it, or should I ask Evans to repair it? Thanks

  1. Did you ride in the rain recently?

That sounds a bit like the suspension block grease is missing noise.

  2. Could be the crank bolt, check both sides, that need a bit of tensioning up. 8mm Allen key for that one.
Worth a try and a really easy fix if it is that.

Edit : not sure what’s up with Reddit but my sentence was all messed up and I am still drinking coffee at the moment.

  3. After 100 miles, you really should have the bike serviced to confirm that everything is still correctly tightened and aligned (assuming that you don’t feel competent to do it yourself).

There’s a settling in period with any mechanical system when it starts to be used.

  4. A squeak… no need for Defcon 3. Just get it to a dealer for the 1st check if your not experienced/comfortable with bike maintenance. It’s very likely one of the causes already suggested.

Side-note, there a more elegant ways to post than typing the entire message in the topic tittle… 😉
