  1. It’s not really a drop bar MTB tho…it’s still a gravel bike. Gravel bike tires, gravel bike geometry, gravel bike suspension (none).

With that limited tire clearance and gravel bike geo, this def isn’t a drop bar MTB. It’s…a gravel bike.

  3. 50s aren’t a MTB tire, especially when XC racing is trending towards 2.4. What you’ve got there is just called a gravel bike.

  4. I would be careful with anything larger than 45 on the X. Maybe 47s in dry conditions without a lot of gravel.

Check the tire clearance where your chain stays meet your seat tube.

  5. I have the original X and 43’s were the biggest I could fit without rubbing, maybe 45s. I even made it a mini xc bike with a gravel suspension fork and 659b x 47 Knobbies, and it’s decent on smooth single track. But don’t get that confused with an actual MTB. This bike isn’t even a laid back gravel bike.
