Hey guys, I need your help. So I changed my groupset to an Ultegra 6500 with a Shimano HG93 chain. Everything works perfect now, except that the chain is making noise. It's not a loud clicking but I figured out it is because chain the chain gets stuck on the cassette, it's the same on all gears, but always very small movement off the chain, that's why it's not a loud clicking noise. I don't think my teeth are bend, but also have no idea why this is happening, I hope the video can show the problem.

How many speeds is the chain, how many speeds is the cassette? It looks like your chain is too wide for the cassette.
sounds like it needs indexing
Adjust the high limit screw, loosing it a little bit by turning it counter clockwise
I would double check that it’s the right chain first. I just read an article about counterfeit chains. Then I would make certain you have used whatever gauge is used for that derailleur to be certain the B Screw tension is correct.
Wouldn’t hurt to check if your derailleur hanger is straight as well. I couldn’t quite catch it in your video, but it’s always a place to start when indexing/solving shifting problems
8 speed chain on a 9 speed cassette?
How old is the cassette? The answer is “very”…
Honestly, it looks pretty good. I see the jump when you back pedal, but that may be due to the shape of the sprockets. Not meant to go that way. A little more lube might help too.
I also learned that a little noisy in my quiet house is perfect outside. Pretty good takes 5 minutes. Perfect takes another hour, with most of that time making it worse.
I heard someone said when you change cassette always change the chain as well. old chain might kill new cassette
I will echo many of the commenters:
1. New chain with old cassette is always bad news. If you replace your chain often enough, cassettes last longer
2. Pedaling backwards doesn’t really tell you anything. Don’t pedal your bike backwards.
3. First thing I always check with chain jump and shifting issues is if my derailleur hanger is bent. You can spend hours trying to adjust your high/low screws and barrel adjusters and it won’t ever be right. Get a cheap hanger alignment tool on Amazon and save yourself future headaches.
You seem like the type of person that is handy and wants to take care of your own bike. Here are some important tools to have:
1. Aforementioned hanger alignment tool
2. Chain wear measuring tool. The Park Tools CC-3.2 is like $13 and super easy to use. – Replace your chain when this tool is even remotely close to telling you your chain is stretched/worn
To fix your current issue: get a new cassette. And get a name-brand one, not some Chinese rip-off one.
I just had a very similar problem on my MTB and the problem was that the derailleur wasn’t compatible with my setup (9 speed clutch derailleur on an 8 speed cassette that a local MTB shop said would work). However, yours might be compatible, but the issue could then come down to a bent derailleur hanger, jockey cage misalignment, indexing issue, limit screws, etc. If you can’t figure it out, just take it to a shop. It saved me a ton of hassle
A Shimano Ultegra 6500 uses a 9-speed “B-type” “Hyperglide” chain.
Shimano HG93 chain type appears to be a standard “Hyperglide” chain.
I could be wrong as I’m no expert at this.
