  1. Would need updating for sure, but it’s a cool frame in a larger size which is difficult to find

Just picked up one like this for $20 (same model/year with original fork, all original LX components). That was a crazy find though, would never go more than $100.

  3. In Germany people selling those vintage salsa stems for like 100 – 200 EUR. Might be a regional thing tho. The Frame is very nice and has a wonderful paintjob. If it’s your size it might be worth it. Large 26er frames can be quite rare.

  4. Honestly yes. XTR brakes, Mag 10 long travel with a long steer tube, salsa cromo stem, XT 8sp hubs. That frame is worth something too

  5. It’s pricey, I wouldn’t pay that but I can’t stop looking at that dang salsa stem and xtr brakes

  6. lol this is bookmarked on my CL too. I was gonna offer a cool hundred dollars. Up to $200 because of the size. I mean the salsa is worth a few bucks to the right person alone.

  7. Many low appraisals in here. I’ll make the case for a higher value than most: $150-175.

The point is… as bikes get older, their value is less dependent on the underlying bike or its original value and more dependent on how much it might cost to get the bike ready to ride.

This is a fine mid-level 1990’s MTB that should never be ridden on single track again. These make great ‘around town’ bikes.

From the extremely limited view, the bike looks clean and spec’d reasonable. I’m not a fan of the fork for many reasons and I’d personally be eager to swap it out for either a static fork or a more modern susp. fork (not easy to source! a 26” fork at a rational price for this bike).

But if you like the bike (with that fork), if the drivetrain doesn’t need replacing, it’s worth $150 in my book. It’s far better than the chewed up bikes one tends to get for $80-100.

    But $300? Nah.

It would be worth $300 to me, I am 6’4″ and love 90’s mountain bikes. However, something between $250 and $300 would be fair.

  9. big GT with an actual rear v brake is hard to find, so maybe? especially if the paint is as good as it looks. a -1 would be that it sucks for mountainbiking, and you maybe don’t need a front shock for not-mountain-biking

I’d pay 300 for it if the frame has little rust, no dents and it’s exactly the right size. If you plan to keep it and ride it, it’s ok to pay up a bit to get the right bike. I’ve bought lots of bikes. Sometimes I get a deal and sometimes I over pay.

  11. Brakes worth around 50, frame 100max. Wheels could go for 50 but more likely 40-30. I’m not realy seeing the transmission. The rest is placeholder parts for bike building.

That’s 200-250 minus the whole bike discount (or minus the split part premiums) I’d go for 200ish maybe slightly more if I need one of the place holder sor if the paint was realy something

  12. That bike should come from the factory w XT level components including XT cantis. I’ve think this was upgraded to XTR v brakes. I have this very frame in small of anyone of interested.

  13. Not a screaming deal, not a rip off. Sell the stem and the brakes and rest of the bike is $100.

Parts look like LX, so the rest of the bike comes in at a tier below XT.
