  1. I wouldn’t risk possibly rubbing trough brake hoses. Can you route them behind the rack and secure them to the rack with zip ties or smth so they dont clap against it?

  2. I had exactly the same issue and there has been no problems at all. I wrapped a bit of tape around where they touch. Don’t know if it made any difference. The jackcrack is a magic bit of kit. Love it

  3. First of all, sorry that I couldn’t post the text along with the images, I see some have already tried to respond while I was typing this.

Hello, thought this would be the best sub to ask this question. I bought a new bike recently (Tenways CGO600) and would like to use a front rack I already own ([“Jack the Rack”](https://wholegraincycles.com/)). I originally bought this rack because the bike I planned to use it with had a carbon fork with no mounting points, which isn’t true for the CGO600. However seeing as I already own the rack and I like the look of it, and also its general utility having use it for a couple of long rides, I’d like to see if I can make it work.

Pictures are of what I think is the best way to run the cables, with them being routed sort of _within_ the rack rather than fully behind. Tucking them behind causes a bend that I’m not comfortable with. My question is, if I’m actually carrying something on the rack (like a relatively lightweight 2 person tent), is this likely to cause issues?

It seems like the worst case scenario is when the handlebars are turned all the way to the right (have included photos of the handlebars at various angles) as then the back brake (the left lever, I’m in the UK) hose is pushed out further into the rack.

I realise this isn’t an ideal bike or setup for bikepacking / touring, it’s just something I’d like to be able to do once or twice a year. The bike is mainly going to be a commuter and / or for weekend rides.

Oh and yes before anyone says it, I’m planning on moving the front light up to the handlebars so it doesn’t get blocked by the rack.

  4. i’d try to get them behind the rack. but, can you turn the bars all the way left & right? if so, carry on.

  5. If you have a way to build a little strain relief/support around where the hoses exit the levers, I eventually busted one of my brake hoses(hydraulic) because it routes through my basket like this and I throw my bag and lock and chain and I’m not careful enough and after a year or 2 now I need to replace my whole rear brake etc(I intended to upgrade eventually, but it would be nice to swap pads and it do anything🤣)

So, if I could go back in time and adjust things to protect my brake hoses better, I would.

    Maybe something like this https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/s/WjvecaVgMm
