  1. I have always always wanted to go to the Brussels. Ever since I read a Nancy Drew book set there as a kid. It just sounds so quaint, and historic! Someday!

  2. As a Belgian living near Brussels, I keep suggesting staying into the pentagon shaped center (it's obvious on a map) and watch out for pickpockets and tourist traps. Avoid the southern region of Brussels at ALL cost, since it's the ghetto of Belgium.

I also highly suggest hopping on a train to the coast (Oostende), Bruges, Gent, Leuven, Antwerpen or visiting the more rustic Limburg, however public transport over there isn't as nice. In Wallonia you can always visit nice cities like Namur or Dinant, or go even more south to our very forested "Les Ardennes". Keep in mind that the more south you go, the worse public transit becomes

  3. Brussels is boring and dirty, once you have see Manneken pis the townhall square and the Atomium you are done, thers not more to see, Bruges and Antwerp are far more intersting

  4. The double-cooking method is Belgian… but the French fries are French. Frying potatoes into French fries was first found at a market in France, in Paris, at the Pont-Neuf, which was a market where all kinds of vegetables were fried.
