Always
Excellent report, looks like a great day out 🙂
I'm surprised this is such a great cycle route in Germany, we have a long way to go
Such great infrastructure across borders. I'd love if these were part of a practical network in Australia (a continent-sized country), not to mention the important common-sense infrastructure of Dutch cities, which even if imperfect, are a worthy hurdle to leap for us!
When I cycled that route last year the traffic lights annoyed me. I too tried pressing the button, but what BicycleDutch didn't show here, is that you cannot see the lights from where you can press the button. Most crossings would be fine without lights anyway.
Apart from the crossing this is a very nice route to ride.
Oh, beautiful, my home where I cycle so often. I have cycled this route from Kleve to Nijmegen several times. Nijmegen is a beautiful, lively city, with many cycle bridges and very good infrastructure for cyclists.
It is not Cleves it is Kleef/Kleve. In the past it belonged to the Netherlands.
These kinds of cycle routes are cozy, but their nature being that of abandoned rail is a shame. I wish abandoned rails like this would be reinstalled and reopened for service. One going from my hometown in the Central Valley of California up into the Sierra Nevada foothills was removed in the 1970s, and the portion of the route in the town up in the forest was reused as a shared ped/cycle path. The town would have benefited significantly from an improved passenger railroad down to my hometown, but they instead opted for a four lane highway as a replacement.
Interesting journey and seeing your camera set up too. 👍👏
Seems like the operation also gave you added zen points. Your narration has improved for me. And a very nice video as always.
I like the behind-the-scenes.
Ja veel beter 😀
Historians confirm that "Anne of Cleves" did not anticipate railways or bicycles during her six months of marriage as the fourth wife of Henry VIII of England.
Happily Henry divorced her, rather than having her beheaded.
As much as I love the cycle route, I hope the railway line gets reopened again at some point, maybe as light rail. I of course want to cycle route to continue existing as well.
Is this only for bikes or can people walk along it as well?
I'm so glad that they have banned mopeds on the cycling route. They shouldn't be allowed in any cycling route. Electric bikes could be used as a replacement for mopeds, if they need to ride on a cycling path.
Such a great cycle route
The only international cycle route I've taken is from Turnhout in northern Belgium to Baarle-Hertog in northern Belgium 🙂
I'm confused by the stop sign and light combo. When you have green are you supposed to still come to a complete stop before crossing or cross without coming to a complete stop?
Also is your camera setup being held on by rubber bands? Surely that's not the case.
Railway line shut down in the 90s, bikepath takes decades to build and ends in the outskirts of the city. Welcome to Germany!
Always nice to see another of your great videos. I have just been to ‘s-Hertogenbosch thanks to your channel and seen some of the bike sights!
New camera? The quality seemed to have increased
Bicycles make life better.
Every child and adult should own a bicycle and ride it regularly.
The is a world wide obesity epidemic leading to higher rates of heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer.
Everyone would be a little healthier if they rode a bicycle to work, school or for fun.
Great video Mark! I can't express how much I like seeing the part about the railway bikes. How I wish we could have such a thing in Ireland.
De Shtation of Kliefs
It was such a big mistake that they destroyed the railway line…
This cycle path runs right in front of our holiday home in the woods near Nijmegen 🙂 We used to cycle to Groesbeek next to the railway 10 years back when there wasn’t any asphalt. It was always a bumpy journey haha.
your voice is so soothing! love the narration, would love to ride on this route one day
A bike route over the 7 hill route in Groesbeck to Nijmegen would be nice to see.
I knew about EU borders, but I didn’t know that also applied to non-car infrastructure. Very cool to see bike paths that cross borders
Three years ago I subscribed to this channel. It's literally a school of Architecture on bicycle lane design. The channel provides rich examples in greater detail.
Very useful.
Why am I only seeing this now? You literally showed a part of my way to school😳
They should promote it when there are sensors to detect traffic with traffic lights. People don't know this. Even you, super experienced cyclist didn't know this. And you can't know it, because not all crossings have this system yet.
It's a nice cycle path, but it is definitely a shame for the Netherlands and Germany likewise that an international rail corridor is abandoned. It should be reconstructed and electrified.
It's like bels lijntje, a bike path between Turnhout and Tilburg that used to be a tramway. I'd rather have the tramlines that used to stretch across the region
Nice! Some parts I have not explored yet, what a great service to have inner tube vending machines along the way, although the road service looked like you would not need theme there 🙂
Perfect old railroad keeping as tourist attraction.
Draisine look so cool! But what happens when there are two on the same track, going in opposite directions?
Je vergeet donsbruggen station. Of er ooit weer treinen gaan rijden ? Denk het niet
i live in nijmegen and work in groesbeek so i know that route by heart
Thank you for your video! I’m going to ride this route next month. Respect from Canada.
🚲👍
