Hello! First-time bike commuter; it's just a short 3km ride so not looking at anything fancy, but would love some advice discerning between these two used options.
The first is a $300 (AUD), 3-year old Specialized Sirrus (unknown model). Extra things that I recognize are the rear rack, bottle-holder and kickstand. First 2 pictures.
The second is a $350, 5-month old Specialized Sirrus 1.0. Extra things that I recognize are the handlebar light and phone holder(?). Last 3 pictures.
Like I said, I'm very fresh so I'm unsure of what to look out for. Very happy to receive any advice, and particularly in discerning between these two options. Thanks!

If it truly is just a bike to commute, you might be better off with the darker one. It’s got a more comfortable seat and the handlebar is taller for a more comfortable ride. That being said if you have any hills or bridges you have to go over the gray one has bigger sprockets on the back which will make for easier peddling but the lower handlebar height is more performance oriented which may not be what you are looking for. You can purchase the add on phone holder and lights online pretty inexpensively.
First one is 10 years old, not 3: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/sirrus/p/49608?color=149466-49608
Drivetrain is better on the old one (8 speed shimano vs 7 spd microshift), but it looks poorly maintained. It may be fine after a decreasing and oiling, or it may need new chain and cassette.
If you can use that info to bargain down the first one significantly, it might be worth it.
The newer one was on sale for $350 brand newbl within the last year: https://www.reddit.com/r/whichbike/comments/1c9k1st/sirrus_10_australian_34999_yes_or_no/
