  1. Road furniture has become an industry. My community, already declared an arboretum because of the amount of trees, has found it necessary to install islands in the middle of our 2 main streets with guess what? More trees. And of course more maintenance for our city workers who dont have time to even pick up trash on the same streets.

  2. I just read a story in the San Francisco Chronicle about a 17 year old driver street racing his Mercedes at 90+mph in a 35mph zone, crashing into a Chevy Bolt, and killing the parents of young twin girls (who survived the crash). I had to stop reading the story as they focused only on whether or not the teen driver should've been tried as an adult–missing what I thought was the point. If you want safe streets, you can't solely rely driver judgement; it shouldn't be possible to go that fast in a 35mph zone European cities seem to have figured this out….
And in this race we have the opposite effect; the UCI should do something about this. Citycenter finish lines for cycling races may need to be relegated to North American cities, where speed is still king.

  3. I for one am happy to see the placement of speed bumps in the last 100 meters of a sprint finish. The position of sprinters being too far over the bars on a sprint finish must be stopped. It is dangerous to the other riders as well as the fans at the finish of these races.

  4. So that finish line has been set up and their for everyone to see the speed bumps, and you’re telling me it never occurred to them that maybe a speed bumps at the 100 meter mark might not be the best idea????

  5. Appalling decision to design a finish with a speed bump in that location – utterly ridiculous. The race organisers and safety commissars should be given a red-card. The riders union needs to start taking legal action to protect riders.

  6. It was actually Alexander Konijn, a dutch rider on Nice Metropole Cote d'Azur, not ONJ who finished third. Not quite sure how he managed that but fair play

  7. Been a lot easier for me to watch races with the max thing now, BUT still really appreciate your reviews for races I just don’t have the time to watch ❤❤

  8. If Ackermann had shorter socks he wouldn't have been going so fast and wouldn't have crashed. People mocked the UCI on safety but here's a perfect example, short socks save lives

  9. Bad news for senor Ackerman. Since all uci sprint finishes will be reviewed by the nfl's New York office, upon further review, when Ackerman crashed his socks came down more than 6 inches and he has been disqualified. 😵‍💫
