My new SL5 arrived a few weeks ago. Tried installing a bottle cage today and the screw head broke. I also noticed a crack sort of section in the down tube (about 1cm)
1) how do I get the rest of the screw out?
2) is the crack concerning or is it superficial?
Do I need to reach out to Trek for warranty?

Looks like superficial paint damage but I’d reach out to support nonetheless to get it documented. For the bottle cage bolt, you need to carefully drill and extractor it (hopefully the rivnut is still secure). For an m5, you will need a small extractor that likely does not come in a set. You may be able to drill and CA glue a toothpick into it and untwist it if there is no loctite or paint providing extra friction.
